The Secret Flexibility Blocker

Narratives
The Secret Flexibility Blocker

The Flexibility Killer

Why does this happen?

  • When you miss deep sleep, your baseline muscle tension rises.

  • Your nervous system stays more alert than it needs to be.

  • Recovery hormones drop, which makes your tissues feel tighter than usual.

One bad night is nothing to worry about. But weeks of bad sleep? Get ready to move like the Tin Man.

Before You Stretch Harder, Sleep Better

Don’t rewrite your entire flexibility routine or blame your hamstrings for being dramatic, try giving your body what it actually needs:

  • Give yourself an extra thirty minutes of sleep (put the phone down... PLEASE.)

  • Make your room cool and dark like a bat cave.

  • Avoid screens for one hour before bed.

And yes, phones appear twice because they cause more stiffness than leg day.

Flexibility begins with recovery, not just movement.

Stay Flexy,

David

Movement of the Day
Chest Stretch

This stretch opens the chest and biceps while improving posture and shoulder mobility.

Watch the demo here.

How to Do It:

Place one hand on a wall with your body close. Gently turn your torso away until you feel a stretch across your chest. Keep your shoulder down and relaxed.

Hold for 30 to 60 seconds, then switch sides.

Tips:

  • Turn only to a comfortable range

  • Keep the shoulder relaxed

  • Feel the stretch through the chest, not the neck

Many of these exercises are featured in my 12-Week Flexibility Plan.

Myth-Busting
Cracking your joints causes arthritis

That pop is gas shifting in the joint or tendons sliding over joints, not bones grinding to dust. The best evidence shows it definitely won't lead to arthritis.
