MOVEMENT OF THE DAY
THE STANDING PANCAKE GOOD MORNING

How to perform it:

Stand tall with your feet spread wide apart, toes pointing forward. Engage your core and keep your back straight. Slowly hinge at the hips, lowering your upper body forward toward the floor. Keep your knees soft, but legs extended as you bring your chest closer to the ground. As soon as you feel a stretch in your inner thighs, hamstrings, and groin, pause for a moment.

Next, engage your muscles to lift yourself back up to standing. Focus on keeping your back straight and avoiding rounding your spine. Repeat for 5-10 reps, adjusting your stance wider to increase the challenge, but ensure you maintain proper form throughout.

Why it helps:

The Standing Pancake Good Morning is a mobility exercise that strengthens and stretches your groin, inner thighs, and hamstrings while boosting hip joint flexibility. It improves posture, enhances hip strength, and helps prevent injuries.

QUESTIONS FROM READERS
SHOULD YOU WORRY ABOUT POPPING KNEES?

QUESTION:

Hello!

Is having your knees pop when you squat a bad thing? Are there any corrective exercises I could do to stop it from happening? Any stretches? Thank you for your advice!

Best regards,

Melina L.

ANSWER:

Hey Melinda!

Knee popping is very common. You’re not the only one struggling.

For example, here’s an old video of me and my knees popping halfway through!

It’s a condition called crepitus that can happen in any number of joints throughout your body. It is usually completely harmless, so it isn’t something you should worry about.

HOWEVER…

If the popping causes pain, that’s not good! In that scenario, a doctor would be your best friend.

But to reiterate, no pain… no problem! Keep moving and improving!
